Bus Stop Tour
Dear members,
Yesterday, I was invited by NYSUT to attend a roundtable “Bus Stop Tour" discussion with AFT President Randi Weingarten, NYSUT President Melinda Person and Congressman Tom Suozzi. The genesis of this meeting was for a selective group of local leaders to share our thoughts/concerns on the state of education specifically on Long Island. We also discussed the impact of teacher shortages on districts, Title I Grants, CTE programs, testing, social emotional wellbeing of students and SALT (State and Local Tax) Deductions. It was truly an honor for me to represent the CPTA in this endeavor and I am hopeful that what was discussed today will continue to evolve and some common sense solutions will come to light for our profession and education. Should any further events and/or information come to fruition, I will keep everyone in the loop. Also, if you live in Carle Place and/or have family/friends that do, please don’t forget to cast your vote this Thursday (10/24/24-6:00 am-9:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room) for the District Bond propositions. Have a great rest of your week.
All the best,
Mike...
